Vintage 50's Jantzen Swimsuit/ Playsuit/ Romper Blue Paisley Print Cotton. XS 32

Description

Jantzen 1950's Swimsuit/ Playsuit/ Romper of paisley print cotton fabric. Colors are blue and gold and brown outlined in black on a white ground.
Size is a Vintage size 10 which is an XS in modern sizing. 32 " bust,. See measurements. Suit is all original, lined in white cotton with a built in bra that hooks closed in back before you zip up the suit. Metal zipper. Lining is white cotton - so very clean that the suit looks unworn. The classic Jantzen tag also looks pristine.
It is in mint condition which leads me to believe it has never even been worn or gotten wet. Condition is excellent. Due to the condition of the fabric and the classic Jantzen swimsuit tag featuring the diving girl in her red suit and bathing cap, I think this suit looks unworn or at least not worn in water! Very clean, The tag looks new and perfect. Lining is pure clean white cotton, except for one area between the bra cups where there is a slightly dark marking on inside lining fabric only. This does not detract from appearance of the suit at all when it is worn as it cannot be seen from the outside. It very well may well come out when the suit is washed. Crotch area is pristine white and the pure white cotton lining also looks as it it has never been worn or gotten wet. Suit is smocked or ruched on the sides of the bodice - that means gathered into a light elastic to make it hug the upper body. Straps are adjustable in length and have several buttonholes so they can be worn straight over the shoulders or crossed in the back to vary their length to an individual fit. Lining is gathered inside around the legs for modesty. Outer legs are styled like shorts. This suit is utterly utterly adorable! There is self piping at the waist - a darling detail. The back of the suit is low cut to allow for maximum sunning! This is definitely a collector's item!
There is an interior cotton panel covering the metal zipper so it does not rub on the wearer's back.
Bodice is reinforced with a built in flexible bra that has boning for shape.

I tried to find a Jantzen sizing guide for the era of this suit but was not able to locate one. I wanted to know the measurements to fit a 1950's size 10 bathing suit! It is quite small. I think it fits like a size 2 would fit today. I will give the best measurements I can in the listing and also continue to search for a Jantzen company 50's sizing chart.
It is extremely rare to find a1950's Jantzen swim suit in such impeccable condition. It would be wonderful to wear if it fit, but would also be a wonderful piece for a collector to own, for a collection of vintage swimwear, for a 1950's or swimwear museum collection, as a costume reference for film, theater or photography, for pin-up modeling, or for a designer of contemporary swimwear. Suit is labeled a Vintage size 10, however, it is XS by today's standards. Please allow a little extra room for comfort and ease of movement. Suit is laid flat to measure. Measurements are doubled for bust, waist and hips.
Made of cotton and elastic, with a metal zipper. Condition is fresh and clean, ready to wear.
This suit fits like an XS size.
