This is an APS film format negative holder for use with the Nikon Coolscan scanners (US Patent Pending).
    Works with the following Coolscan models: LS-40, LS-50, LS-4000, LS-5000, V ED.
This holder requires use of the MA-20 or MA-21 slide mount adapter.
Model features a slide in "top" that assists in keeping film flat for scanning.  This was CAD designed and manufactured for use with the obsolete Advanced Photo System (APS) format that was briefly popular nearly 20 years ago.  Both Kodak and Fuji stopped manufacturing APS film in 2011.
Unfortunately not only is it almost impossible to get prints made from APS film these days, but APS negative holders are hard to come by and the ones that you can find cost upwards of 0.  APS presents a special issue for scanning at home because it's stored wound tightly inside the film canister.  Once you get it out of the canister, the negatives roll in to a ball unmercifully without something to hold them flat.  Removing exposed negatives from an APS canister is actually quite easy.  You literally break it out any way you can.  Since APS canisters are plastic, I use a pair of pliers to
    gently
crack open the canister to gain access to the negatives.  If you don't want to destroy your APS canister, there are commercially available products known as "film retrieval tools" that will work for APS.  I am also told that it is possible to use a small flat screwdriver to open the canister film door and then use the screwdriver to turn the canister center spindle to make the film eject for scanning.
This is a new design that no longer requires modification to your MA-21 slide adapter to use properly!
Important: Our film adapters for scanners are
not designed to be used with uncut filmstrips
.  You may need to cut your film to adapter length for proper use.  Please keep in mind that Nikon manufactured an APS adapter for Coolscan scanners that enabled the user to scan an entire roll without opening the canister or cutting the film.  You should buy Nikon's APS adapter if you're not interested in cutting your film in to strips for scanning.
Specifications for the APS negative holder:
    Overall: 210 mm x 50 mm
    Scanning Window: 200 mm x 18.5 mm
(Please note the Coolscan is not capable of scanning the full width of an inserted filmstrip.  The user will need to scan one end of the film and then flip it around to scan the other end.  This process is detailed in the online instructions)
    Material:  Solid Plastic
Features:  Unlike some designs, this holder features a recessed channel to hold your negative strip firmly which can help avoid scratches or trapped dust that other holders may cause.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS:  Ebay has recently changed rules for international buyers.  If you are buying multiple items from the same seller you can no longer combine shipping.  Ebay will also require you to pay immediately so I am not able to send you an invoice for combined shipping.  Unless something changes (or unless you know of a way to combine shipping that I haven't found yet), your only option is to buy and pay for each item separately.  This will likely result in overpayment of shipping charges.  I always refund overpayment of combined shipping charges and will refund the buyer through Paypal at the time of shipping.
    Satisfaction is guaranteed!

    Important additional notes:
    - If you are buying my holders for resale, please be aware that my products are more about "function" over "form."  This is why they are so inexpensive compared to other commercially produced options.  Each holder is custom made and may contain spot sanding and other finishing marks.  I do my best to clean my products up cosmetically, but due to sales volume I simply can't spend a lot of time on it.  My main concern is that it works like it is supposed to.  As a result, if you are reselling please be aware that you may need to do some more finishing work suitable for a retail environment.
    - Please pay particular attention to the "handling" days before shipping as noted above.  I do not typically maintain a large inventory of my film holders as most are custom made upon order placement.  As such, I ask for 5 business days handling before shipping.  My average is likely around 2 days, but there are occasions where orders are very high and I may need all 5 business days before I am able to ship your holder.  Please keep this in mind.
