1901 *BISON* RARE Fr 117 Low Serial Number United States Note

Up for sale is the rare key of the 1901 Bison notes, the Fr 117 with Vernon-McClung signatures. This is by far the scarcest signature, the only one with less than 100 known in the PMG population report. On top of that, this note has a very low 5 digit serial number, making it one of the earliest to be printed of this signature. You just don't see low serial numbers in the Bison series.
These Bison notes are one of the most popular and iconic pieces of American currency, perhaps the most collected note. These are favored not only by currency collectors, but also by Old West enthusiasts as it really embodies the spirit of that bygone era and just has an eye appeal that other series do not.
This note grades Choice Fine to Very Fine in my opinion with decent paper quality remaining and mild, even circulation. No splits, tears, tape, writing, or even pinholes.
